The Metropolitan Wilmington Urban League (MWUL) is seeking experienced Tutors for Middle and High School students in the Wilmington and New Castle County areas, and will be accepting resumes from potential candidates.  The MWUL is a civil, social and economic advocacy organization that focuses on youth empowerment and building opportunity networks for people of color.

Description:  Provide individual and small group (up to eight students) tutoring services to students seeking improvement in various academic areas, (i.e., English, Math, Social Studies, and Science) for two hours a day, two days per week.  Incumbent should be prepared to assist students with improving their academic achievement by meeting with them regularly to clarify learning and work on developing strong study skills and work habits.  Incumbent should motivate students and help them develop confidence in pursuing academic excellence.  Incumbent is required to be punctual for all scheduled tutoring sessions.

Position Title:             Part-Time Supplemental Education Services Tutor (No Benefits Included)

Salary:                             Minimum $15.00 – Maximum $25.00 per hour 

Qualifications:

  • Strong academic knowledge in the four major subject areas listed above
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Friendly, patient and sensitive to a diverse population of students
  • Must have own transportation
  • Must pass a criminal background check
